Core drilling

Core drilling can be carried out to both walls and floors, hole sizes vary from 25mm to 300mm. Holes up to 1 metre can be arranged by special arrangement. Dependant on the depth of the slab it is not always possible to use a floor saw to cut large voids. If the slab is in excess of 300mm deep it is often necessary to cut these voids by overlapping core drilling. This is known as stitch drilling.

Diamond drilling rigs operate on 110v single phase supply.

In order to ensure the diamonds are cutting effectively water is used as a coolant and to create a grinding paste in the process. Nationwide Contracts tries at all times to supress water usage. When cutting holes in floors it is necessary to make provision to protect the underside of the slab from falling debris. This comes either in the form of a container attached to the underside of the slab in the location that the hole is being cut, or more commonly the use of a crash deck is employed which consists of creating a scaffold platform 100mm from the belly of the slab.

Crash decks and scaffolding can also be arranged by Nationwide Contracts.

All diamond drilling quotes are supplied with a method statement and risk assessment. Contracts can be arranged for core drilling and removal of debris. This service is available 24/7.
